About The Well Owner
About 43 million Americans drink from a private well. Nobody tests that water for them, and nobody tells them what the results mean.
City water comes with a utility, a lab and a yearly report. A private well comes with none of that. Federal drinking water rules don't cover private wells, so the owner is the one who tests, reads the results and picks a treatment. Most people start with an orange stain or a rotten-egg smell. Then they land on sellers who all say their system fixes everything.
The Well Owner works the other way round: symptom first, test second, product last. Every page explains what causes the problem, how to confirm it with a test, which treatments work at which levels, and when a cheap fix is enough.

How we work
- Sources you can check. Numbers come from the U.S. EPA, state health departments and university extension services. Each page lists its sources and the date we checked them.
- No fake testing. We only say "we tested" when we did. Otherwise we tell you where the information comes from.
- Cheapest working fix first. If a $30 fix solves it, we say so before mentioning a $2,000 system.
- Independent. We are not affiliated with the EPA, any government agency, or any water treatment manufacturer.
